Our activity in dogs began in the early 1970’s. Showing in the AKC Conformation Breed Ring, Obedience and waterfowl and upland bird hunting.
In 1978 we got our first flat coat, “Windy” La De Ja’s Chicago, who was Winners Bitch at the 1979 National Specialty.

We bred our first Flat Coat litter in 1996. To date we have bred nearly 50 Breed Champions and finished many others bred by other breeders. We have dogs enjoying themselves as family pets – hunting companions, Search and Rescue dogs, Therapy dogs and show dogs. Three of them are Nationally certified Search and Rescue dogs and one is currently in training. “Gage” Ch. Heirborn Highway To Heaven served our country in Iraq with his owner Sarah Garfunkel DVM.

We also bred the number one dog in Japan for 2010, “BB,” Am JPN Ch Heirborn Knockin On Heavens Door.

In 2010 our friend Alice Richter of Brush Country German Short Haired Pointers of Texas joined us as a Partner in Heirborn Kennel. Alice has unparalleled knowledge in everything dogs! We are so very lucky to have her as a friend, confidant, adviser and member of the family.
